Middle School Solo and Ensemble Times are Posted!!!

music jpgMake sure you let everyone know your time that you will be playing on April 21, 2018 at North Point Christian. You are responsible for following the rules, providing your own transportation, and being nice to your parents who support you. I will be posting maps and information here for your convenience in the upcoming days. Practice lots over the spring break.

Rules:

  • Your piece needs to be 1.45 minutes or more long. It is best to provide at least 2 minutes worth of music. No repeats may be added to the music to make it longer.
  • You must have an original purchased score that has both parts of music with aligned measures.
    Every measure must be numbered.
  • Your music must have the school name, your name, and event time.
  • Show up at least 1/2 early from your scheduled performance time.

Other Things:

  • There will most likely be no piano in your warm-up room unless you are playing a piano solo.
  • Be pleasant and courteous to all workers and judges for the festival. They are there for you.
  • cellist bring a rock stop.
  • Dress like you care about your performance. Wear nice looking comfortable dressy clothes.
  • Acknowledge your accompanist. Make sure if you owe the accompanist fees that you pay them on this day.

Registration for State Solo and Ensemble

tenorStudents who have registered and are performing at the District 10 Solo and Ensemble must register for State Festival right after this weekend if they qualify. Events that qualify are those that received a 1st division rating at district.

You are responsible for informing your parents and accompanist and/or other members of your ensemble about your performance time. There will be more information sent to you in the near future as to the exact details of where in the building you will perform.

MAKE SURE:

  • Your piece is at least 2minutes long or longer.
  • You have an original published score that has all parts represented in score format and each measure numbered. Put your name and school name on your music as well.
  • You arrive AT LEAST 1/2 hour before you perform. Leave extra early if the weather will be a factor in travel.
  • You dress in a manner that reflects that you care about your performance today.
  • You conduct your self with confidence, respect, and gratitude towards the judge, accompanist, and your parents, as well as other members of your ensemble. They are all here to assist you in having a positive experience.
  • You see your teacher right away if you have any questions regarding any of these requirements.

Jack H. Miller Center for the Performing Arts

The Holland Orchestras are gearing up for another holiday performance 7 PM on December 18 at the Jack H. Center for the Performing Arts.This year the Holland High Symphony will perform with the Concert Choir Craig Court’s Carols of the Night as well as the traditional Hallelujah Chorus from George Frederick Handel’s Messiah.

We are excited to bring Dr. Fashun, the immensely talented Director of Orchestras from Hope College, to guest-conduct the Holland High School Chamber Orchestra in Morten Lauridsen’s “O Magnum Mysterium”. Featured high school violin soloists will be Brain Tran and Evilyn Timmermann in Angelo Correlli’s Concerto Op.6 No.2. The Holland High School Honors String Quartet will also make it’s debut performing Luigi Boccherini’s String Quartet No. 1.The concert is free and open to the public.
